… the last week’s MIT energy showcase, I found a super cool wind technology company called FloDesign Wind Turbine. The company was backed by Kleiner Perkins VC (KPCB) in both series A and B round, and the other investors including Goldman Sachs, Technology Partners, and VantagePoint VC. Also, it is worth to know that FloDesign was the winner in the MIT Clean Energy Entrepreneurship Prize Compeition with 200K in 2008.

Basicly, FloDesign has developed a revolutionary new wind turbine that is capable of producing 2x to 3x as much energy as today’s conventional turbines, for a given land area. The FloDesign turbine draws upon advanced aerodynamics and jet engine …

Experimental wind turbines installed on the rooftop of Boston’s Museum of Science have produced less electricity than predicted, prompting researchers there to urge caution before homeowners mount a turbine on their property.

Installed as part of a green Initiative, five different brands of wind turbines became landmarks on the roof of the Museum of Science in 2009. Four of the five types of turbines have had problems, while all five models underperformed, said Wind Turbine Lab Analyst Marian Tomusiak at the museum.
