Wind-energy stocks around the world have suffered as the aftershocks of the global credit crisis limited investment in carbon-free power generation.

Renewable energy law to come into force in July, ANRE officials say
A major issue with investors willing to bet their money on renewable energy projects – a clear and stable regulatory framework – seems to be close to a solution. Speaking at the Focus on Renewable Energy event organized by Business Review, Petre Lificiu, vice-president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), said the ANRE would this week send notification to the European Commission on law 220/2008 for the establishment of the system to promote energy production from renewable sources, which will make the law applicable from July.
“We will send to Brussels notification on Law 220, so that by the end of June we will respond to any requests from the European Commission. The law will become applicable from July. It was a difficult process which required thorough calculations,” said Lificiu.
Wind Patents and Future Trends in Wind Technology
A new study, recently published by Totaro & Associates examines the U.S. patent landscape of wind turbines to determine which technological trends have emerged so far and what we might be able to infer for the future direction of wind turbine technology.
The study focused on the most prevalent sector of wind turbine technology – utility grade, horizontal axis wind turbines.
The methodology involved searching and aggregating relevant results using technology keyword classification, then analyzing those results to identify the degree of relevancy to the industry for each patent. The study found and analyzed over 1,450 patents just for the US.

Global warming won’t harm wind energy production, climate models predict
The production of wind energy in the U.S. over the next 30-50 years will be largely unaffected by upward changes in global temperature, say a pair of Indiana University Bloomington scientists who analyzed output from several regional climate models to assess future wind patterns in America’s lower 48 states. Their report — the first analysis of long-term stability of wind over the U.S. — appears in this week’s Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Early Edition.
“The greatest consistencies in wind density we found were over the Great Plains, which are already being used to harness wind, and over the Great Lakes, which the U.S. and Canada are looking at right now,” said Provost’s Professor of Atmospheric Science Sara Pryor, the project’s principal investigator. “Areas where the model predicts decreases in wind density are quite limited, and many of the areas where wind density is predicted to decrease are off limits for wind farms anyway.”

Why not? The Academy Awards come from the Kodak Theater. Other corporations have ballparks, football stadiums, hockey and basketball arenas. Sponsoring wind energy may not get Steelcase as much publicity but it is arguably a much better identification.
Waterloo Wind Farm, a Roaring 40s success — EcoGeneration — The magazine for Australia’s clean energy industry
The Waterloo Wind Farm is approximately 30 kilometres south-east of the township of Clare and 100 km north of the state capital, Adelaide.
Waterloo’s total maximum generating capacity of 111 megawatts (MW) is generated by 37 Vestas V90 3 MW turbines stretching over the 18 km wind farm site and connected through a 33 kilovolt (kV) internal reticulation network to the wind farm substation.
A 1.8 km 132 kV transmission line connects the wind farm to the ElectraNet transmission network via the new Waterloo East Substation.

Mohegan Sun History
Mohegan Sun opened on October 12, 1996. Their new Casino of the Sky opened on September 25th, 2001. Mohegan Sun, while seemingly dwarfed by neighboring Foxwoods still ranks as the second largest casino in the world.
The centerpiece of Casino of the Sky is a massive Wombi Rock – a three story crystal mountain that was built out of 12,000 pieces of onyx rock. It is truly a beautiful sight to behold.
