Brazil Making Huge Progress in the Wind Energy Sector

brazil wind energy 300x198 Brazil Making Huge Progress in the Wind Energy SectorThe renewable energy capacity in Brazil will grow with over 400 MW of wind power. The amount will be provided by GE Energy, a first-rate US provider of power systems and energy services, which had won the supplying commitments in a previous auction last year.

At this point, Brazil is leading with 31.6 GW of wind power, which is expected to be installed by 2025.

GE will provide 258 of its advanced 1.5 MW and 1.6 MW to four of participants at the alternative energy auction, namely, Renova Energia, Dobreve Energia, Contour Global and Bioenergy.

Another alternative energy giant, Gamesa, has joined forces with Eolia Renovables de Inversiones for the development of wind projects in Mexico, supplying 324 MW of turbine capacity.

A number of 162 Gamesa turbines, model G9X-2.0 MW, will be provided to outfit the Eoliatec del Istmo and Eoliatec del Pacà fico projects for wind energy generation, in the state of Oaxaca.

In the meantime, Grupo Bimbo, made of the most important baking companies based in Mexico, is supposed to be investing $200 million in a wind farm for its electricity demands. The 90 MW wind project will be carried out by the Mexican affiliate of Renovalia Energy company.
